Tile calculator for piece counts

Turn a rectangular floor or wall into piece counts, waste-adjusted purchase tiles, and optional box totals.

Use the same length unit (e.g. feet or meters) for surface and tile sizes.

— Enter dimensions and calculate.

  • 10 × 12 surface, 1 × 1 tile, 10% waste, 10/box → 120 nominal · 132 purchase · 14 boxes
  • Surface area ÷ tile area = ratio; nominal = ceil(ratio)
  • Purchase = ceil(ratio × (1 + waste%)); boxes = ceil(purchase ÷ tiles/box)

For estimating and planning. Diagonal patterns, grout gaps, cuts, and breakage can raise real demand. Not an exact installation plan.

Method: keep surface and tile lengths in the same unit. ratio = surfaceArea÷tileArea; nominal = ceil(ratio); purchase = ceil(ratio×(1+waste%)); boxes = ceil(purchase÷tilesPerBox). Example: 10×12 surface, 1×1 tile, 10% waste, 10/box → 120 nominal · 132 purchase · 14 boxes. Diagonal layouts and grout gaps can raise real demand.
